Solid Oil lubricated SKF bearings are designed for use in applications where high humidity or contact with water and environmental contaminants pose challenges to bearing durability. These factors, along with inadequate lubrication, account for a significant portion of premature bearing failures, which can be prevented with Solid Oil lubrication. The Solid Oil lubrication method is based on the addition of lubricating oil in solid form inside the bearing. Bearings containing Solid Oil are lubricated for the entire lifetime of the bearing, eliminating the need for re-lubrication during their usage.

Solid Oil is a solid polymer matrix saturated with lubricating oil, which completely fills the free space in the bearing and covers the cage and rolling elements. This prevents moisture and contaminants from entering the bearing, and the lubricant cannot leak out of the bearing even during washing. The polymer matrix acts as an oil reservoir, releasing the required amount of oil to the bearing’s rolling surfaces during operation, ensuring effective and optimal lubrication for the entire lifespan of the bearing. The Solid Oil lubrication solution is available for the most common ball and roller bearings, as well as bearing units. Solid Oil can be identified by the W64 suffix in the bearing marking. Solid Oil is also available in a food-grade version.
