Solid Oil lubricated SKF bearings are designed for use in applications where high humidity or contact with water and environmental contaminants pose challenges to bearing durability. These factors, along with inadequate lubrication, contribute to a significant portion of premature bearing failures, which can be prevented through Solid Oil lubrication. The Solid Oil lubrication method is based on a lubricating oil added in solid form within the bearing. Bearings containing Solid Oil are lubricated for the entire lifespan of the bearing, eliminating the need for re-lubrication during the bearing's operational life.

Solid Oil is a solid polymer matrix saturated with lubricating oil that completely fills the free space of the bearing and covers the retainer and rolling elements. This design prevents moisture or contaminants from entering the bearing, and the lubricant does not leak out of the bearing even during cleaning. The polymer matrix serves as an oil reservoir, releasing oil to the rolling surfaces as needed during operation, ensuring efficient and optimal lubrication for the entire lifespan of the bearing.

The Solid Oil lubrication solution is available for the most common ball and roller bearings, as well as bearing units. Solid Oil can be identified by the W64 suffix present in the bearing marking. Solid Oil is also available in a food-grade version.
