Solid Oil lubricated SKF bearings are designed for use in applications where high humidity or contact with water and environmental contaminants pose challenges to bearing durability. These factors, along with insufficient lubrication, contribute to a significant portion of premature bearing failures, which can be prevented with Solid Oil lubrication. The Solid Oil lubrication method relies on adding a lubricant oil in solid form into the bearing. Bearings containing Solid Oil are lubricated for the entire lifespan of the bearing, eliminating the need for re-lubrication during its service life.

Solid Oil is a solid polymer matrix impregnated with lubricant oil, which fully fills the free space of the bearing and covers the cage and rolling elements. As a result, moisture and contaminants cannot enter the bearing, and the lubricant cannot leak out of the bearing even when washed. The polymer matrix acts as an oil reservoir, releasing oil to the rolling surfaces of the bearing as needed, ensuring efficient and optimal lubrication throughout its entire lifespan. The Solid Oil lubrication solution is available for the most common ball and roller bearings, as well as bearing units. Solid Oil can be recognized by the W64 suffix in the bearing designation. Solid Oil is also available as food-grade compliant.
